Original shipment brought desk which was significantly damaged (end "gouged out" prob. from fork lift) but packaging was intact. But the most important thing is modernoffice made it right. They handled the problem efficiently and got a new desk to me in a month. Bad things sometimes happen; it is how a business deals with them that reveals their character. However, this chair we spent almost $400 on is terrible. It arrived damaged and dirty. The customer service was very prompt in replacing the damaged footrest but the chair is nothing like the picture. The footrest is too short and very uncomfortable. If we could return it we would but our physical limitations prevent that from happening so we will eat this money. The chair clunks when you lean back in the reclining position and the lever to recline is so tight and close to the cushion it is very difficult to operate. We blieve this is a lemon and as we all know they do exist now and then and unfortunately we were the ones stuck with it. All we suggest is that you consider this review if you plan on purchasing this reclining office chair. If you are 5 feet it will fit you just perfectly. Otherwise you should not even consider it.

We wanted to update our lobby for our TV studio with a new reception desk. I found modernoffice.com with a google search for "cherry curved reception desk"... and the 12ft model was exactly what we were looking for. It was shipped immediately, and arrived in (13) boxes averaging about 90Lbs ea. The shipper did not offer inside delivery, but they did leave it on the sidewalk for us just outside our lobby. Assembly instructions were just OK, but the photos could have been clearer, and steps could have been better denoted. But it was manageable. At 1000Lbs, we assembled the desk pretty close to its final resting place. It only took 3 hours for 2-3 people to do. Although quite heavy, we could still move it on our carpet to make minor final adjustments in location. But follow the instructions, and leave off the glass before attempting to move once assembled. Once assembled we discovered an annoyance of the center support bumping into our knees when seated. We also saw that there seemed to be bolt holes to hold the two countertops together, seemingly eliminating the need for this support. Although they did not include instructions on how to do this, nor the extra bolts (for this mod of ours), we got some 7in threaded rods at the local hardware store and removed the center support, replacing it with just the bolts. I wish I had done this from the beginning, as it required quite a bit of disassembly & reassembly to insert them... but was really worth it in the end. We can now enjoy a uninterrupted desktop surface without the annoying knee bumper. The desk is quality and beautiful... everyone at work loves it. and it has certainly improved first impressions for our visitors. Overall, I would highly recommend this supplier, and we plan on future purchases from them. All our email inquiries on products have been promptly returned. This was an expensive purchase - I was willing to pay the shipping cost of the desk, the desk as left in the alley behind the building becuase the delivery person had other deliveries. Because my office are not delivery people- we were not equipped to handle such a large piece of furniture. As a result, the nice desk got quite scratched. Also considering they were to deliver on a Friday, due to weather conditions they were not able to deliver. They informed us that we would receive the desk on the following Monday... We had to contact the company to locate whether the desk had been shipped again- at 4pm - they finally informed us that we would not get delivery until the next day. Modern Office had exactly the right desk, at a price well below anyone else I could find. Everything (6 boxes) arrived just fine via common carrier, except for one box which was mildly squished which dinged one wooden piece inside. I contacted the manufacturer and they gladly sent a replacement part free of charge. The only improvement I could recommend would be the ability to track the shipment, but at 462 pounds common carrier is the only option and they dont offer that sophistication. I did call Modern Office to verify my order and to make sure everything was being shipped and would arrive before my move and the Modern Office staff was friendly, courteous, and knowledgable. It was easy to do. The email confirmation and conversations regarding delivery were efficiently done. I was promised delivery of the first item in one to two weeks and it came in one week. The second item was promised in two the three weeks; I had it in two weeks! My only surprise was the quick and easy assembly. In my wildest dreams I did not expect the items to be completely unassembled. It really required an experienced person and a power drill to do the assembly. Nevertheless, all the parts went together very precisely. The items are beautiful and I would not hesitate to recommend this company and their delivery service!

The directions were fantastic - most directions come with a fuzzy diagram and a few sentences but this was done step by step, clear pictures of every part, broken down into many pages that were easy to follow.
